Peter Buri becomes spokesman for the Aargau government
Peter Buri, former editor-in-chief of the Aargauer Zeitung, will become the new spokesperson for the Aargau cantonal government. Buri, 52, who currently serves as managing director of Medien Nordwestschweiz within the AZ Medien Group, will take office in early summer 2011.
According to SDA, Buri has a wide range of experience in the media landscape and public relations work. Buri, who lives in Lenzburg, joined the editorial team of the Aargauer Tagblatt in 1978 after completing an apprenticeship as a bookseller. In the mid-1980s, he continued his education by studying and working in Germany, the USA and Scandinavia. He has been a member of the AZ Medien management team since 2001.
Buri succeeds Christine Stähli, who wants to change career direction after six years with the Aargau government. Until a new appointment is made, Stähli's deputy Christoph Leuenberger will head the communications service.
