Bedag honors three journalists

This year's Bedag Media Award has been presented to journalists Luca Berti, Tasha Rumley, and Anatol Hug. The award is given for journalistic pieces on computer science topics that are accessible to a general audience.

Luca Berti receives the grand prize for his series of articles in the daily newspaper La Regione Ticino. In his series, Berti describes, among other things, how fiber optic networks work and the possibilities of touch screens. Tasha Rumley receives the press prize for an article in the French-speaking Swiss magazine L'Hebdo. In it, she describes how traditional forms of seduction are being replaced by SMS, e-mail and social networks. The television prize goes to Anatol Hug for a report on the subject of data theft, which was broadcast in the consumer magazine Kassensturz. In it, Hug shows how credit card data is stolen and traded on the Internet.
This year's e-government prize goes to the Canton of St. Gallen and Verwaltungsrechenzentrum AG St. Gallen. The IT company Bedag is a public limited company owned by the Canton of Berne. Bedag's customers are primarily public administrations, hospitals and insurance companies.
