The Swiss Society for Communication and Media Studies (SGKM) is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year under the chairmanship of Roger Blum, professor of media studies at the University of Bern.
The Swiss Society for Communication and Media Studies (SGKM) is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year under the chairmanship of Roger Blum, Professor of Media Studies at the University of Bern, and is concerned with the analysis of public communication and has set itself the goal of promoting media studies at the various Swiss universities and representing their interests. Since the founding of the SGKM, communication and media studies have become increasingly important: While there were just three professorships in Switzerland in 1974, today - including universities of applied sciences - there are 47. However, media institutes are still struggling with a huge influx of students and a shortage of teaching staff. (ps)
