Culture The government council of the canton of Baselland has awarded one of its three cultural prizes, each worth 25,000 francs, to John Schmid, co-founder of the former WHS hotshop, for his art installation "Sculpture at Schoenthal" on the site of the former monastery. To date, 15 national and international artists have created sculptures there, which, according to the laudation, blend subtly into the Jura landscape. This makes the site one of the few art locations of supra-regional importance in the Basel region. The cantonal councillor also praised Schmid's commitment to modern jazz.
