The Golden Ear will be awarded for the 8th time on December 1. The radio spot competition will take place for the first time as a three-country comparison for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.creative competition The organizers decided to take this step after discussions with advertisers from Munich and Hamburg, according to a press release. According to co-organizer Frank W. Bienenfeld, Achim Szymanski, copywriter of award-winning campaigns for McDonald's and Haribo, and Stefan Kolle from Kolle Rebbe were the main inspiration for the idea. They will also be lobbying for the Golden Ear in Germany. In Austria, Angelo Peer, former CD of Demner Merlicek & Bergmann, has been recruited for this. In addition to around 200 Swiss entries to date, Bienenfeld is expecting up to 400 submissions from Germany and around 100 from Austria. The 15-member jury - five members per country - will award gold, silver, bronze and diplomas in a two-day, two-stage process. It is made up exclusively of copywriters. "We wanted to get back to creation," explains Bienenfeld. This is why the financial support of advertising time marketers was also dispensed with. Sponsors from outside the industry are to step in for them. Despite its international focus, the Golden Ear will remain in Zurich, assures Bienenfeld, as Germans and Austrians also like to come here to visit.
