Coninx goes, Supino comes

Tamedia's Hans Heinrich Coninx is stepping down as chairman of the board and publisher of the media company Tamedia in 2007 after 18 years in those roles. He recently announced this on the occasion of his 60th birthday.

Tamedia Hans Heinrich Coninx is stepping down as Chairman of the Board of Directors and publisher of the media company Tamedia in 2007 after 18 years. His successor will be Pietro Supino (39), a former McKinsey employee, Vice Chairman since 2002 and a member of one of the three branches of the Coninx family, which together hold 76 percent of the company. With Supino's election, the 112-year-old family tradition is to be actively continued, according to a Tamedia press release. This is also the expectation of long-time former Tagi cartoonist Nico, who has been friends with Coninx for 37 years and sees Supino's election as an excellent decision: "I expect Pietro Supino to continue the earlier course of Hans Heinrich Coninx in the proven Tamedia corporate culture." Nico believes that with the still young Supino, who has many new ideas, the management style at Werdstrasse will also change. (rw)
