Digital Republic Rebranding: Freedom Also Means Staying
With the Digital Republic rebranding, the Cologne-based agency denkwerk is sharpening the Swiss mobile carrier’s brand identity. A new design system, a revamped website, and a new campaign are intended to highlight the company’s evolution from a B2B IoT specialist to a challenger in the Swiss B2C mobile market.

The Digital Republic rebranding marks another step in the Swiss mobile carrier’s evolution: The Cologne-based digital agency denkwerk has secured Digital Republic as a new client and is supporting the company with a comprehensive brand refresh, a new design system, and the accompanying product campaign. Following the website relaunch on September 7, 2026, the new campaign will officially launch in the Swiss market.
From Data SIM Provider to Challenger
Digital Republic started out as a provider of data SIM cards and, in recent years, has evolved from a B2B IoT specialist into a challenger in the Swiss B2C mobile communications market. With cell phone plans for individual customers, the company now has a significantly broader reach—a development that, however, had not yet been consistently reflected in its brand identity. Together with denkwerk, Digital Republic has therefore strategically and visually evolved its brand. The goal of the brand refresh was to more clearly define the brand’s new role in the market and to give it greater distinctiveness, recognizability, and relevance.

Freedom also means wanting to stay
The starting point for the new positioning is a distinctive feature of Digital Republic: While the mobile phone market is often defined by prices, switch-over offers, and discounts for new customers, the company focuses on simplicity, clarity, and goodwill—and, according to its own statements, is constantly improving its plans for existing customers as well. This led to the development, in collaboration with denkwerk, of a new perspective on the promise of freedom—which is ubiquitous in the mobile communications industry: Freedom doesn’t just mean being able to leave at any time, but the satisfying feeling of no longer having to—or wanting to—do so.
«We didn’t want to develop a new shell for Digital Republic; rather, we wanted to highlight what makes the brand fundamentally different. When a mobile carrier doesn’t have to constantly persuade its customers to stay, but instead gives them good reasons to do so, it creates a pretty powerful sense of freedom. It was precisely with this idea in mind that we further developed the brand,» says Florian Schimmer, Executive Creative Director at denkwerk.

A design system for all touchpoints
denkwerk is translating this new positioning into a comprehensive visual refresh. This includes a new color palette, illustrations, and icons, as well as a redesigned logo and a new visual style. All of these elements are integrated into a digital design system designed to ensure the new brand identity can be applied consistently and scalably across all touchpoints. The system is thus intended not only to create brand recognition externally but also to provide a long-term working foundation for Digital Republic: In the future, new applications and communication tools should be developed more quickly, and design decisions should be made more consistently.
«Digital Republic has long since become more than just the brand we started out as. With our new brand identity, we’re now consistently communicating this evolution to the outside world. Together with denkwerk, we’ve created a brand universe that stands on its own, aligns with our values, and at the same time gives us the flexibility we need for our next steps,» says Dimitri Salzgeber, CMO at Digital Republic.

Campaign for the final mobile carrier switch
Denkwerk is launching the new brand identity directly into the market with a digital product campaign. The campaign also supports the new naming architecture for the flat-rate mobile plans and translates the brand concept into a clear message: Once you switch to Digital Republic, you’ll have no reason to keep looking. The campaign showcases the new brand universe across all channels with concise messages and creative elements. The first campaign elements went live on September 8, 2026, and the official campaign launch took place on September 14, 2026.
With a brand refresh, design system, website relaunch, and campaign, the first collaborative project between Digital Republic and denkwerk thus covers the entire spectrum from strategic positioning to market activation.
