Urban Memory: The Tsüri.ch Archive Comes to Life Visually
On June 10, Superdot Studio and Tsüri.ch will launch the “Stadtgedächtnis” project—a visual exploration of more than 4,400 journalistic entries spanning ten years of reporting on Zurich. The free online launch event will demonstrate how knowledge databases can be explored in multiple dimensions.

Urban Memory and Tsüri.ch: Rediscovering Ten Years of Journalism
The Stadtgedächtnis Tsüri.ch project makes the editorial archive of the Zurich-based online media outlet Tsüri.ch visually accessible. With more than 4,400 entries, the archive is designed to offer a multidimensional experience—searchable by topic, neighborhood, time period, narrative form, and key figures, according to those responsible. The project was developed by Superdot Studio in collaboration with Tsüri.ch and funded by the Innovation Fund for Multimedia Journalism (IMJ).
The free online launch event, at which the project will be presented to the public, will take place on June 10, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. The event will be streamed live on YouTube and is accessible after registration.

Visualization as a Method for Journalistic Databases
According to the project participants, “Stadtgedächtnis” demonstrates how knowledge databases and visual collections can be systematically organized. The concept aims to create new ways of navigating large journalistic archives and to facilitate access to historical urban journalism. The project thus serves as a model for how digital media archives can be made accessible to a broad audience.
Program for the Tsüri.ch City Memory Launch Event
The event begins at 5:00 p.m. with a welcome and introduction. Starting at 5:10 p.m., there will be a detailed presentation of the project, covering methodology, design, and technology. Questions can be submitted via Slido throughout the event; the link will be sent to registered participants after they sign up.
