The Schellenberg Group has decided to sell the free newspapers «General-Anzeiger», «Rundschau Süd» and «Rundschau Nord» to CH Media. The three Effingermedien titles are published in the Brugg and Baden regions and will change hands on September 1, 2026.

Targeted addition to the advertiser portfolio

For CH Media, the acquisition represents a targeted addition to the existing Anzeiger portfolio. «The Effingermedien titles fit in very well with our product range in the advertising business and strengthen our market position in Aargau. We will be able to offer our advertising customers even more attractive offers in future, while offering readers in the Brugg and Baden regions continuity in reporting,» says CH Media publisher Peter Wanner.

CH Media's aim is to retain the majority of employees from the acquired free newspapers. However, in the course of the integration and against the background of the economic conditions in the media industry, individual personnel adjustments cannot be ruled out. At the same time, a merger of the two «Rundschau» titles is being examined.

Focus on printing business

«I am convinced that we have found the best possible buyer for our three newspapers in CH Media. The media company has a long journalistic tradition and is already firmly anchored in Aargau with various free newspapers. In future, our focus will be on the print business, which is our core business,» explains Oskar Schellenberg, owner of the Schellenberg Group.

The parties have agreed not to disclose the financial and contractual details.
