Ringier bundles business and people journalism on top platforms
Ringier Medien Schweiz is integrating the business coverage from handelszeitung.ch into bilanz.ch and moving current celebrity content from Schweizer Illustrierte to blick.ch. This digital consolidation enables greater reach while maintaining the editorial independence of each publication.

Ringier Media Switzerland is reorganizing its digital media landscape. From April 22, 2026, all analyses, reports and daily business content from Handelszeitung will be available on the joint platform bilanz.ch. At the same time, Schweizer Illustrierte's current people reporting will be integrated on blick.ch.
Business journalism on one platform
With the bundling of digital business reporting, the previous online presence of handelszeitung.ch is moving to bilanz.ch. Readers will benefit from an expanded offering in future: In addition to the usual reports and analyses on the Swiss economy, they will have access to exclusive research from Bilanz and, thanks to a cooperation, content from the «Wall Street Journal». The digital subscription also offers access to the e-paper editions of both titles.
Despite the digital integration, the editorial independence of Handelszeitung remains fully intact. The team will continue to report on the Swiss economy and its markets in the usual depth. The printed edition will continue to appear every two weeks.
People content on a high-reach platform
The digital presence of Schweizer Illustrierte was realigned according to the same principle. Current reporting from the world of stars and celebrities now takes place on blick.ch and benefits from the portal's wide reach. At the same time, Schweizer Illustrierte is focusing its own digital activities on social media and newsletters in order to address its community directly on their preferred channels.
Strategy of pooling resources
Ladina Heimgartner, CEO of Ringier Media Switzerland, explains the strategy: «We have strong platforms and we have strong titles. The question was: How do we bring the two together consistently instead of running them in parallel? I'll be honest: it's very expensive to run two websites in parallel for Business and People - in terms of technology, marketing and attention. We prefer to invest these resources where our brands have a direct impact: in journalism, newsletters, podcasts and events.»
According to Heimgartner, the Handelszeitung on bilanz.ch reaches more people without losing its depth. The same applies to Schweizer Illustrierte on blick.ch. «The editorial teams continue to work as before, only the shop window gets bigger. That's an advantage that not every media company has, and we're using it now.»
With more than 4.6 million readers, the media brands of Ringier Media Switzerland are among the most widely read in the Swiss market. In addition to Blick, the portfolio includes titles such as Beobachter, Handelszeitung, Bilanz, cash.ch, Tele, Schweizer Illustrierte, Landliebe, Glückspost, L'Illustré and PME.
