Zurich Zoo Launches «Kurzfutter» WhatsApp Channel»
The Zurich Zoo now offers media professionals a direct information channel via WhatsApp. Under the name «Kurzfutter,» interested parties will receive short news updates, exciting stories from everyday life at the zoo, as well as photos and videos directly on their smartphones—unfiltered and without the need to register.

Zurich Zoo is expanding its communication channels for media representatives. With the new WhatsApp channel "Kurzfutter", journalists can now be informed directly and easily about current events and stories from the zoo.
Compact news for everyday editorial work
Until now, Zurich Zoo has provided information about important events at short notice in the form of media releases and regularly at the monthly media event. The most important events are thus covered. However, exciting things happen at the zoo every day. Some of it can be found on the social media channels, but the algorithm pre-sorts it so that one or two posts don't even appear.
With the new WhatsApp channel, Zurich Zoo wants to offer media professionals an easy way to regularly receive short tips, the latest news and short stories from everyday life at the zoo directly and unfiltered on their smartphone. The channel is specially designed to provide compact and relevant stories immediately that could be of interest to those working in hectic editorial offices - whether as light news for in-between or as a short gap-filler.
Image and video material included
The zoo also provides attractive image and video material. For example, subscribers learn that the aquamarine rainbowfish is only found in Papua New Guinea in a very small distribution area of two bodies of water. It lives in Lake Kutubu and the Soro River. Or that the European ground squirrel has awoken from hibernation and can be seen by zoo guests again, especially when the sun is shining.
There are also reports on new arrivals such as the peacock goats in the Zolino. The unusual name of this rare breed of goat comes from its coat pattern, but has nothing to do with the peacock bird.
No obligation to participate
The channel is purely an information channel: There is no obligation to respond, register or actively participate. Media professionals can read the content at their leisure and use it whenever it suits them.
