The music format goes into the next round: from Monday, March 16, the seventh season of "Sing meinen Song - Das Schweizer Tauschkonzert" will be broadcast on 3+ at 8.15 pm. Host Dodo has once again invited Swiss musicians to Gran Canaria to take on the challenge of reinterpreting each other's songs.

This season's line-up includes singer-songwriter Bastian Baker, Leduc from dialect duo Lo & Leduc, singing drummer Nickless, Klangwelten artist To Athena, Afro-fusion queen Nicky B Fly and Fabienne Erni, vocal wonder of Eluveitie and Illumishade. There will also be a premiere: for the first time, an international special guest will be paying the band a visit - Irish singer Rea Garvey.

Musical playground with surprising interpretations

The extraordinary happens under the starry skies of Gran Canaria. When metal singer Fabienne Erni reinterprets a dialect song by Lo & Leduc, Bastian Baker sings in Swiss German for the first time or Nicky B Fly unceremoniously invents new genres such as "Swiss Afro Country", the musical playground - as Nickless calls it - is opened up.

This season is a very special one for Dodo, as it is his last as host of "Sing meinen Song - Das Schweizer Tauschkonzert".

Personal insights behind the music

Over the course of eight episodes, the artists look back on their careers to date, provide insights into their private lives and share anecdotes.

Bastian Baker takes the audience on his journey from the ice hockey field to the big stages of the world. He talks about his world tour with Shania Twain and how a stage accident became a turning point in his life.

Leduc looks back on his beginnings with Lo and his parents, who organized a street party without further ado so that their son could perform. And he talks about a legendary demolition party after which he and Dodo clashed.

To Athena would originally have rather seen herself on a comedy stage. She talks about her special talent, about moments when she seriously considered stealing a boat, and about a burnout that forced her to listen to herself more.

Nickless talks openly about his relationship with social media and a time when he no longer enjoyed being on stage. The host doesn't let the fact that he won the Swiss Music Award in 2016 with "Waiting" against Dodo's "Hippie Bus" get to him.

Fabienne Erni talks about her passion for ballads and how a Disney cover paved the way for her to join the metal band Eluveitie. Today, she is not only on the road with Eluveitie and Illumishade, but also solo.

Nicky B Fly explains how her stage name was born out of a difficult time of bullying at school. She had to forge her own path early on and explains why she never allowed herself to be dissuaded from finding her musical style and how she now lives this self-determined life as a mother and artist.

Rea Garvey as international special guest

Rea Garvey is the first international special guest on the sofa in the seventh episode. The Irish singer looks back on the difficult beginnings of his music career, money problems and lack of places to sleep, why a condom vending machine led to his arrest and how a failed throat operation almost cost him his voice.

The seventh season of "Sing meinen Song - Das Schweizer Tauschkonzert" will be broadcast in eight episodes from Monday, March 16 at 8.15 pm on 3+. Each episode is dedicated to a different star of the evening, concluding with a duet episode on May 4.
