Ars Electronica and CARE Austria launch AI for Social Impact Initiative
Ars Electronica and CARE Austria are jointly launching the AI for Social Impact Initiative. The new partnership recognizes interdisciplinary projects that explore how artificial intelligence can bring about positive change in social, environmental, and humanitarian contexts. A total of four winners will receive prize money ranging from 2,500 to 5,000 euros.

Economic upheaval, unequal power relations and ecological crises are exacerbating the living conditions of people around the world and necessitate new approaches in the field of humanitarian aid and development cooperation. Artificial intelligence can support this - provided the technology is developed together with the people who are to benefit from it.
Prizes for innovative AI projects
To promote this, Ars Electronica and CARE Austria are launching the AI for Social Impact Initiative. Prizes will be awarded to interdisciplinary projects that test how AI can bring about positive change in social, ecological and humanitarian contexts. A total of four winners will be honored: Two projects will receive 5,000 euros each, two others 2,500 euros each.
The projects are selected from all submissions for the Prix Ars Electronica 2026 and to the S+T+ARTS Prize 2026.
