Update AG relaunches tenants' association website

New design, new technology, new content, new interfaces: The website of the Tenants' Association of German-Speaking Switzerland, mieterverband.ch, has been completely revamped. update AG carried out the entire technical and visual redesign.

The new platform of the Tenants' Association of German-speaking Switzerland , tenantsassociation.ch serves as a central point of contact for tenants and bundles the comprehensive guide with news, association and section information as well as clear access to advice, membership and other services.
The relaunch creates a future-proof basis for a website that reaches around 1.3 million users a year, but was technically outdated and only allowed structural adjustments with disproportionate effort. The focus was therefore on a clearer information architecture, a more consistent linking of tenancy law content with the services offered by the sections and a website that can be managed independently by the MVD and the sections.

Complete solution for easy care

In technical terms, the new structure was designed to enable efficient operation and further development: The open source CMS ProcessWire and the complete solution "associations.net" from update AG - including a role and rights system for several editorial groups (e.g. sections) and an editorial environment designed for easy maintenance without programming knowledge.
The platform has a modular structure and is connected to the MVD's system landscape via various interfaces. The connection to Libracore/ERPNext is central for member administration: important processes can now be largely mapped online - taking out membership, making consultation requests, paying invoices, managing addresses and more. Further interfaces, for example to other specialist applications and payment systems such as Payrexx, enable an end-to-end digital process from consultation to payment.
"With the new website, we can support our members even more efficiently: From joining the association to requests for advice, bill payments and address corrections, many steps are now carried out online and are much easier than before," says Lorenz Keller, Managing Director of the Tenants' Association of German-speaking Switzerland.
Caching mechanisms and a separate test and live system are used for performance and stability so that updates and functional enhancements can be tested before going live. A new server environment was also required for the rebuild, as the previous site ran on Magnolia.
The implementation follows a mobile-first approach and takes into account minimum accessibility requirements as well as Swiss data protection requirements. The digital branding and UI design were realized in collaboration with Atelier Périsset.
