The traditional beer brand Haldengut from Winterthur has a new design. The fresh look underlines the authenticity and regional ties of the brand with the classic Haldengut Lager and Haldenkrone - both remain unchanged in their proven recipe and continue to be produced according to traditional brewing methods.

Tradition meets modernity

For over 180 years, the Haldengut brand has stood for authentic Swiss brewing tradition and regional roots in Winterthur. The new design combines the beer's long history with a contemporary look that reflects current market trends and is intended to increase visibility. "With the new look, we want to emphasize the strong roots of the Haldengut brand in the Winterthur region and the greater Zurich area and at the same time build a bridge to younger consumers," explains Janis Fasser, Brand Manager at Heineken for the Haldengut brand. "The redesign underlines our authenticity and the long tradition behind every Haldengut beer."

A story that began in 1843

The history of the Haldengut brewery began when the town farmer Ferdinand Ernst converted his farm on the southern slope of the Lindberg in Winterthur into a brewery. The first Haldengut beer was brewed in 1843. The Schoellhorn family shaped the brewery for decades with an entrepreneurial spirit and a love of innovation.

In the 20th century, the brewery experienced its economic heyday under the management of Fritz Schoellhorn and became one of the largest breweries in Switzerland. Through continuous modernization and close ties to the region, Haldengut grew to become a key player in the Swiss brewing industry. In the 1990s, Haldengut was integrated into the Heineken family.

Over 180 years of brewing tradition will be honored at the Museum Schaffen in Winterthur until 11 January 2026 with a preparatory exhibition featuring selected brewing machines. From May 2026, the large exhibition "Memory Tank Haldengut" will be on display, focusing on the work in the brewery. On display will be a unique collection of archive and photographic material as well as original objects and machines.

Haldengut is a Swiss beer brand with over 180 years of tradition from Winterthur. Since 1843, Haldengut has stood for authentic Swiss brewing and regional ties. Today, Haldengut is brewed in Chur and distributed by Heineken Switzerland.
