As part of a management buyout, Urs Bucher, Martin J. Matt and Christof Zogg will take over Best of Swiss Web GmbH on December 1, 2025. This includes the three awards Best of Swiss Web (founded in 2001), Best of Swiss Apps (founded in 2013) and Best of Swiss Software (founded in 2024). The change of ownership ensures the continuity and long-term development of the three awards.

The close and long-standing cooperation with Netzmedien AG, Switzerland's largest ICT specialist media company, will continue as before. Heinrich Meyer, former owner and co-founder of Best of Swiss Web GmbH, is thus completing his succession: "Having recently found a new owner for Netzmedien AG in the form of the long-standing editor-in-chief Marc Landis, I am now all the more pleased that a management buyout is also becoming a reality at Best of Swiss Web GmbH."

Long-standing connection to the organization

The new owners have a long history with Best of Swiss Web. Urs Bucher was one of the founders back in 2001 and played a key role in establishing the brand. "The Best of Swiss Awards are real drivers of innovation for the Swiss digital industry. They encourage the courage to think and implement new ideas and create an environment in which creative ideas become successful projects. Especially at a time when technology and communication are growing even closer together, the awards offer guidance and inspiration. They impressively demonstrate the innovative power of the Swiss digital economy and how it continues to set new standards with quality, pioneering spirit and teamwork," says Bucher.

Martin J. Matt has been responsible for the production of the awards with his agency for 19 years and knows the operational and strategic DNA of the formats in detail: "I have been able to accompany Best of Swiss Web and the other awards operationally for almost two decades. The takeover is a logical and motivating step for my team and me. The Swiss digital economy needs strong, credible platforms - and we will do everything we can to further strengthen them."

Christof Zogg also has a long-standing relationship with the organization, including as a long-standing jury chairman. "When we won the Best of Swiss Web master title with SBB in 2018 and Best of Swiss Apps in 2016, I experienced the momentum that external recognition can trigger internally. I would also like to offer this opportunity to others. With our awards, we have a unique community of web and app experts and digitalization specialists. Anyone who sees the digital industry as a customer or partner ecosystem will find direct access to the Best of Swiss Awards. A contribution to strengthening the Swiss software ecosystem, which is important to me personally," says Zogg.

Most important award ecosystem for digital excellence

Best of Swiss Web GmbH includes the three awards Best of Swiss Web, Best of Swiss Apps and Best of Swiss Software. Best of Swiss Web is also the oldest digital award still in existence in Europe. The three awards of Best of Swiss Web GmbH are the most important award and event ecosystem for digital excellence in Switzerland. With a total of around 500 submissions, 200 jury members and 1,200 guests each year, all three awards are regarded as benchmarks in their respective fields.
