Sporting conclusion to the LUKB anniversary inspires 2,500 participants

The Lucerne Cantonal Bank Sports Days got the canton of Lucerne moving on September 6 and 7, 2025. At 18 locations, interested participants could try out new sports for free and compete in friendly competitions. The event marked the conclusion of the «Lozärn verbonde» anniversary series.

Under the motto "Lucerne takes off", the canton was transformed into a large sports ground on the first weekend in September. The Luzerner Kantonalbank, in collaboration with the company MS Sports and over 25 local clubs, made free sports activities possible for the population.

The variety of sports on offer was impressive: from rowing on Lake Sempach, horse riding in Schüpfheim and golf in Meggen to padel in Sursee and inclusive climbing in Root, interested visitors were able to discover and try out new sports. Around 2,500 visitors took advantage of this opportunity.

The Jubi-Games, which took place at four locations - Lucerne, Schüpfheim, Hitzkirch and Sempach - were a particular highlight. The fun disciplines focused on the Olympic idea: taking part was more important than winning.

Mirco Meyer, project manager for LUKB's 175th anniversary, draws a positive conclusion: "The Sports Days have impressively shown how much sport connects people - across generations, communities and disciplines. That's exactly what 'Lozärn verbonde' is all about."

Mario Sager, CEO of MS Sports, adds: "Never before has there been such a large event with so many clubs spread across the entire canton. I am all the more thrilled that we were able to make this possible together - a strong signal for sport."

All participants received food vouchers and a sports shirt in the anniversary design. Most of the added value remained in the canton of Lucerne - in the spirit of "Lozärn verbonde".
