Evoq for Grindelwald Tourism: Orientation in the glacier village
Evoq, in collaboration with Grindelwald Tourism, has conceived and designed a new pedestrian wayfinding system that guides tourist flows through the mountain village while also telling stories about this historic vacation destination.

In close collaboration with Grindelwald Tourism and Burri Public Elements, Evoq has developed a new, informative and identity-building signage system. Eleven striking steles guide tourists through the village. Each stele shows a detailed map of the village, which serves as a central access point to the interactive experience map of Grindelwald. This can be accessed via a QR code and brings together all the tourist attractions on one platform. The choice of themes, texts and "Grindelwald stories" were researched, curated and edited by Grindelwald Tourism.
The guidance system also consists of seating, a large information wall at the station and eye-catching red signposts that complement the existing road signs and guide tourists to the most important destinations in the village.

The design concept reflects the interplay between the mountains and the village in the brand colors of the Jungfrau Region. Wooden elements with carved details refer to the traditional craftsmanship of the Bernese Oberland. Each stele tells a "Grindelwald story" from the rich tradition of the tourist resort - from the first ascent of the north face of the Eiger to the construction of the Jungfrau Railway.
"Our wayfinding system brings guests closer to the culture and identity of Grindelwald and thus reflects the special nature of our destination," explains Bruno Hauswirth Resort Director at Grindelwald Tourism.
