The four-language awareness campaign was designed and implemented by Life Science Communication to help patients distinguish between well-founded facts and misinformation.

In the healthcare sector in particular, misinformation can have serious consequences. Fake news often spreads rapidly on social media and other online channels—ranging from dubious claims of healing to dangerous misinformation about medications, vaccines, or treatments. The organization Eupati Switzerland has therefore launched a national social media campaign to combat fake news in the healthcare sector.

It is becoming increasingly difficult for patients to distinguish between well-founded, scientifically proven facts and unsubstantiated claims. This can lead to wrong decisions and weaken trust in medical research.

The campaign, designed and implemented by Life Science Communication, focuses on providing information and background information. In a loose sequence on various social media channels, it scatters practical tips for recognizing fake news, references to trustworthy fact-checking portals and exciting insights into research projects that deal with disinformation. The campaign is complemented by an expert podcast and a guide to recognizing fake news.

Eupati Switzerland aims to provide patients with access to education and training in order to facilitate meaningful patient involvement in therapeutic innovation. Founded in 2016, the association is led by a board of directors composed of patients, representatives of patient organizations, industry, and academia.
