Best Yet 2010: English team wins creative competition
Julia Earthrowl from Grey and Gavin Johnson from BMB are the best young creatives in Europe. They won over the seven-member international jury with their ad subject "We don't make great lunch. Just perfect beer". The two winners will be able to travel to the Cannes Lions Advertising Festival in June and will receive a certificate for their placement in Best Yet. The jury still has to discuss where Best Yet 2011 will take place - last year the competition was already held in London.
Second and third place went to a team from Belgium and France respectively: Yannick Pringels and Antoine de Bellefroid from the College of Advertising and Design Brussels, and Emmanuel Guillon and Alban Gallée from TBWA Paris. One of the two Swiss teams received a good number of votes in the judging and was shortlisted. Unfortunately, the votes were not enough to place them on the shortlist. A total of 18 teams from nine countries pitched in the 2010 Best Yet competition.
The task that the young creative talents were set yesterday in Leuven, Belgium, was no mean feat: within 24 hours, they had to develop a newspaper campaign that would whet the appetite for Stella Artois lager - and at the same time position the beer as a premium lifestyle drink. Away from the working-class beer, towards the party guarantor of the upper class. It remains to be seen whether the host brewery In Bev, which brews Stella Artois, will actually use the winning campaign for its marketing.
