Google launches online news service in Switzerland too
Internet giant Google has launched its «News Showcase» service in Switzerland as well. Media companies can use it to showcase their content on the company's platform and in the Discover news feed.
The offer was launched on Tuesday, as the company announced. The participating publishers are CH Media, NZZ, Ringier, Somedia and Tamedia as well as the 20 Minuten Group.
According to the communiqué, the participating media companies select news items on a daily basis, which then appear as an excerpt on Google. At the click of a mouse, readers can access the unabridged articles on the publishers' websites.
According to Google, it pays for Internet users to receive limited access to paid content.
According to the press release, "News Showcase" is currently available in 31 countries. (SDA/swi)
