AI as a creative partner: 99designs by Vista study shows change in the design industry

A new study by 99designs by Vista shows that designers worldwide increasingly view AI as a creative partner. Based on a survey of more than 10,000 freelance designers from 135 countries, the study reveals the technology’s transformative potential for the industry.

In its latest study, the 99designs by Vista platform, which connects creative professionals with clients worldwide, presents exciting insights into the future of the design industry. Based on the responses of over 10,000 freelance designers from 135 countries, a clear trend emerges: artificial intelligence is not only seen as a game changer, but increasingly as a creative partner in the design process. The study sheds light on how AI supports creative work and what new opportunities are opening up for designers both financially and creatively.

The figures speak for themselves: 52% of designers use AI tools today, compared to 39% in the previous year, and 38% are optimistic about the future, as AI inspires their creativity and makes their work more efficient.

Particularly noteworthy: 56% see generative AI as an exciting extension of their creative possibilities, and 63% see it as opening up new career opportunities in the creative industry. A large proportion of the community also relies on further training in order to remain competitive - 88% of designers actively invest in training on AI applications.

The study by 99designs by Vista also underlines the economic impact of the technology: 61 percent of designers have seen their income change as a result of AI, and almost half expect their income to increase further as a result of AI. This change is supported by the platform, which has already paid out more than 500 million US dollars to its designer community. For Patrick Llewellyn, CEO of 99designs by Vista, the study shows a promising future: "Our community is taking advantage of the opportunities offered by AI to explore new creative avenues and harness the potential of human creativity in conjunction with modern technology."
