These are the nominees for the title Master of Swiss Apps 2024

The Best of Swiss Apps jury has made its decision and nominated the best apps of 2024.

The Best of Swiss Apps jury has nominated the best projects of the year. Ten apps stood out from a total of 241 submissions and are now in the running for the top prize:

Barryvox App

The Barryvox app prepares users to use the avalanche transceiver. You can train for emergencies anytime, anywhere, and using various scenarios, with live feedback via Bluetooth. Devices are «tapped» with the probe and marked as «found.» The app offers a comprehensive solution for improving response time in an emergency—a critical factor when every second counts. Firmware updates can now be conveniently performed through the app without having to visit a store. Features such as device configuration, live feedback, and training logs provide additional safety.

Bitumen VR

The Bitumen VR app offers the world’s first VR training program for flat roof welding. Trainees can practice in a realistic VR environment, which conserves resources and is both sustainable and cost-effective. The jury praised the app for its innovative use of VR in the construction industry and its potential to transform the trade internationally. The app provides a good basic understanding and solid proficiency in handling the tools. The training can be conducted from any location, is safer than in-person training, and saves 25 metric tons of bitumen per year.

Carmarket

Carmarket is expanding the Swiss auto retail market as a B2B2C platform for vehicles inspected by authorized dealers. With free-text search, personalization, and omnichannel integration, it combines digital efficiency with personalized service. The progressive web app stands out as the «Digitec of car buying» with its precise search, match finder, comparison tool, and wish list. It allows users to schedule test drives, make direct inquiries with dealers, and guides them seamlessly through the purchase or leasing process.

FAIRTIQ

The app makes traveling by public transit easier in a unique way. With a simple swipe to check in and check out, users can travel throughout Switzerland and other European countries without worrying about fares. The app also allows users to bring along other people, dogs, or even bicycles, and supports common payment methods. Fairtiq also caters to users with disabilities. It works just as well in landscape mode, the contrast levels are generally good, and even the registration process is fully accessible. The large slider also aids navigation for people with motor disabilities.

FOOBY

Fooby stands out with its wide variety of recipes, which can be filtered by occasion, preferences, or time. Whether for quick meals or special occasions—Fooby offers inspiration for every day. The integrated shopping list is particularly handy, making cooking easier. The app is simple, intuitive, visually appealing, and offers high-quality multimedia content. Extensive features like Swipe & Cook and the menu configurator enhance the recipe search experience. The ability to export shopping lists ensures a seamless transition to buying the ingredients. A wonderful app that motivates you to cook and delights young and old alike.

Helion ONE App

The Helion One app offers an intuitive visualization of energy flows in solar systems and enables efficient energy management. With its clean design and intuitive interface, users can monitor and control electricity consumption and energy production in real time. The app makes sustainable energy tangible and motivates users without artificial incentives. The jury praised the innovative implementation and its successful appeal to both end users and professionals.

Level Sports

The Level Sports app is a hit! It encourages its users to meet up outdoors and compete against each other in games. Thanks to the handy map, you can quickly find places where opponents are waiting. Through all these activities, users collect badges and three different types of points, unlock new profile pictures, and may even become leaders in their region. The stylishly designed avatars make the sport of street floorball both safe and cool for the target audience.

myCSS

The MyCSS app impresses visually not just in isolated instances, but rather through its underlying design concept. Beautiful patterns, thoughtful animations, and overarching modularity are the cornerstones of this successful app design. The MyCSS app features a refreshing layout and offers several customization options. MyCSS guides users seamlessly through the app, supported by micro-animations and the subtle use of colors and icons. This results in an appealing and well-organized overall product with many useful features.

SWICA BENEVITA

The Swica-Benevita app motivates customers with supplemental insurance to adopt a healthier lifestyle. It offers a wide range of high-quality content that is tailored to individual needs through targeted personalization. The appealing and clearly structured design ensures a positive user experience and encourages long-term use. The app provides valuable information and helps users make healthier choices.

Uepaa

The Uepaa Safety App impresses with an advanced solution for protecting lone workers, ensuring the highest safety standards even in the most demanding work environments. The jury praised the app’s intuitive user interface and its successful application of expertise from mountaineering safety systems to occupational safety. The app offers life-saving features such as a digital dead man’s switch, 24/7 emergency call, first-responder search, and precise location tracking.

The final score is determined equally by the votes of the jury, the readers of the Netzticker, and the audience at the Award Night at the Kongresshaus in Zurich on November 19. Subscribers to the Netzticker, Netzwoche’s newsletter, can vote for the «Master of Swiss Apps» from October 28 through November 4. The «Best of Swiss Apps» Awards annually recognize outstanding apps—mobile applications and web apps—that have been commissioned by Swiss companies or developed for Swiss companies. In doing so, Best of Swiss Apps sets quality standards and shines a spotlight on the Swiss app, software, and mobile industry. Approximately 50 judges across eleven competition categories expertly evaluate the submitted projects. Each jury assesses the entries based on various category-specific criteria developed in collaboration with experts. Awards include gold, silver, and bronze medals, as well as the Master of Swiss Apps.
