SRG: Architect of the digital future steps down
After twelve years at SRG, seven of which he spent on the executive board, Bakel Walden is leaving the company effective November 1, 2024. Under his leadership, major digital projects such as Play Suisse were successfully implemented.

Bakel Walden, who has held various management positions at SRG since 2012, will hand over the management of his directorate on November 1, 2024. As a member of the Executive Board, he has played a key role in shaping the company's digital transformation over the past seven years. Under his leadership, projects such as the Play Suisse streaming platform, the introduction of the SRG login and the development of a joint data strategy were successfully implemented.
Walden, who previously moved to SRG from RTL Group, was initially Head of Program Strategy at SRF and was responsible for the realignment of market and audience research as well as strategic initiatives for young target groups. In 2017, he took on the role of Director of Development and Offerings on the SRG Executive Board. Here he managed central tasks such as international networking and research projects.
With his departure, SRG is saying goodbye to a long-time shaper of the company's digital future. Director General Gilles Marchand emphasizes Walden's valuable contributions and his openness to new challenges. The designated Director General Susanne Wille also sees Walden as a pioneer of the digital transformation and thanks him for the foundations he has laid.
Walden will continue his external mandates, including as a member of the Board of Directors of Mediapulse AG and as Chairman of the Eurovision Song Contest Reference Group, until mid-2025.
