Anniversary wrestling festival "125 years ESV" live on SRF
As the highlight of the current Schwing season, the anniversary Schwing festival celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Swiss Federal Schwing Association (ESV) will take place in Appenzell on Sunday, September 8, 2024. SRF will provide comprehensive coverage of this national-level Schwingfest on TV, radio, and its online platforms. Schwing King Christian Stucki will make his debut as a TV analyst at the event.
The Swiss Wrestling Federation (ESV) was founded in Bern in 1895. To celebrate this event, an anniversary wrestling event has been held approximately every 25 years since then - with the exception of 1995. Alongside the Swiss Wrestling and Alpine Festival (ESAF), the Unspunnen Wrestling Festival and the Kilchberg Wrestling Festival, this is the fourth wrestling festival with a federal character. The anniversary event was originally planned for 2020, but had to be postponed to 2024 due to the pandemic.
All courses complete and live on SRF 1
Next Sunday, September 8, 2024, the 120 best athletes in Switzerland will compete for victory at the anniversary event in Appenzell. SRF will be broadcasting all rounds live and in full from 07:20 on SRF 1 as well as in the livestream on srf.ch/sport and in the SRF Sport app. In the studio with presenter Fabienne Gyr, the only two winners of the "Schwinger Grand Slam", Christian Stucki and Jörg Abderhalden, will analyze the action. Stefan Hofmänner will commentate on the action in the four sawdust rings, supported by Jörg Abderhalden as co-commentator. Marc Lüscher will provide the protagonists' voices as an on-site reporter.
Reto Wiedmer will be broadcasting regular live broadcasts on SRF 3 radio. Three days before the actual Schwingfest, the highlight of the season will be heralded with a commentated broadcast of the division of the first round via livestream on srf.ch/sport. The day after the anniversary wrestling festival (from 11.05 pm, SRF 1), Stefan Hofmänner will review the weekend's events in the talk show "Schwingklub". Results as well as highlight videos, news and background information will supplement the SRF sports offering on the online and social media platforms.
