Galaxus grows by 13.1 percent in 2023

The Swiss online giant has released its results: According to the report, Galaxus posted double-digit growth in the 2023 fiscal year and was able to tap into new customer groups even outside Switzerland.

Galaxus increased platform sales by 13.1% to CHF 2.744 billion in 2023. Both in its home market and in neighboring European countries, it succeeded in gaining market share and attracting many new customers despite declining retail volumes.

The Swiss online retailer Galaxus achieved double-digit growth in the past 2023 financial year. Group-wide platform sales with Digitec and Galaxus for Switzerland and Europe rose by CHF 317 million to CHF 2.744 billion. Compared to the previous year, this corresponds to an increase of 13.1 percent. Net sales from goods and services increased by 11.6 percent to CHF 2.464 billion.

Four million customers

The electronics specialist Digitec and the online department store Galaxus not only increased their product range by over 30 percent to 6.3 million products in their home market in the past financial year, but also lowered prices across large parts of the product range, according to a press release. The number of new customers has also increased significantly.

According to the press release, a total of more than four million people shopped at Galaxus at least once in 2023, one million of them in Germany, Austria and the rest of Europe. Daily consumer goods were particularly popular in Switzerland. We saw the highest percentage growth in the supermarket and beauty + health sectors, where sales exceeded those of the previous year by over 30 percent. In Germany and the European markets, Galaxus achieved strong growth in all categories and generated sales of 286 million euros - an increase of 55.4 percent compared to the previous year. Cell phones, consumer electronics and IT products were particularly popular in the international business.
