"The Winter King" is coming to Switzerland
The British fantasy epic *The Winter King* is based on the legendary Arthurian legend and comes from the creator of the hit historical series *The Last Kingdom*. Spanning 10 episodes, this gripping series adaptation tells the story of Arthur Pendragon and his rise from an outcast warrior to the celebrated leader of his people. Premiering Friday, January 12, 2024, exclusively across Switzerland on oneplus, the streaming service from CH Media Entertainment.
The southern English kingdom of Dumnonia in the fifth century: England is fragmented into numerous kingdoms whose rulers fight for power. At the center is the well-known legend of the young outsider and warrior Arthur Pendragon, the illegitimate son of King Uther. Together with his half-sister Morgan, the wizard Merlin and the simple warrior Derfel, he does everything in his power to unite his country. Striving to preserve a shred of civilization in a barbaric world, Arthur becomes the legendary leader and protector of his people.
In "The Winter King", Arthur is still a long way from becoming the radiant personality he would later be sung about as. His ascent is rocky and hard.

The successful British series is based on the book "Warlord Chronicles" by Bernard Cornwell, who also wrote the novels for the historical series "The Last Kingdom" has written. With scenes full of suspense and an impressive soundtrack, "The Winter King" is a must for fans of "The Last Kingdom", "Game of Thrones" or "Vikings". The lead role of King Arthur Pendragon is played by Scottish actor Iain De Caestecker, known as Agent Leo Fitz from "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."
