Digitec Galaxus is advertising this Christmas without much emotion

Christmas commercials are known for tugging at the heartstrings. Digitec Galaxus is taking a different approach: This year, the online retailer is featuring offbeat stories and humor.

After the last few years of advertising, we're all familiar with them: highly emotional Christmas films in long runs, in which many brands want to prove their heart once a year for the festival of love. Not so in the new Christmas commercials from Galaxus: a gas station attendant waits all alone on Christmas Eve for his shift to end to the accompaniment of touching piano music. But what begins like a typical Christmas movie for the tear ducts turns out once again to be a typical Galaxus campaign. In one of the films, Santa Claus comes in the door, but turns out to be neither holy nor particularly fresh. In another, it is a heavily pregnant couple who are followed by other strangely familiar figures. And in the third film, it is a robbery that unexpectedly turns out to be a Christmas moment after all.

Additional own films for the social web

The three commercials are accompanied by films in 9:16 format specially produced for the social web in various broadcast lengths. These films tell the stories of the characters from the main films in an entertaining way. For example, Santa Claus talks about his house visits and is still looking for a date. The gas station attendant shares wisdom from his school of life. And Mary and Joe give further insights into the stages of their search for a hostel. The films can be seen from 27.11. to 24.12. in German-speaking and French-speaking Switzerland on TV and in cinemas as well as online on all relevant platforms.
