SRG supports film and television production with more money

SRG is investing more funds in Swiss film. It will now provide 34 million francs annually to support audiovisual production. The new «Pacte audiovisuel» will take effect at the beginning of next year. The agreement will remain in effect until the end of 2027.

Compared to the previous arrangement, the budget will be increased by CHF 1.5 million, SRG announced on Saturday. The co-production agreement between SRG and the private film industry was concluded shortly before the Locarno Film Festival.

The contract regulates the framework conditions for productions that SRG realizes together with private and independent producers.

The increase is in response to inflation and rising costs for film productions, SRG wrote in the communiqué. The budget for feature films will be increased from nine to ten million francs. For animated films, two million francs are now available - twice as much money as before.

SRG is "the most important and largest co-producer in Switzerland," the statement continued. Of the Swiss production volume of around 150 million Swiss francs per year, SRG contributes around one third - through the funds from the "Pacte audiovisuel" and additional money for series production.
