"As a media and technology company, we have a social responsibility. With around 110 media brands in eleven countries, it is crucial to have a coherent editorial mission statement that applies equally to all media brands and editorial teams. To this end, in February 2023 the Board of Directors commissioned Ladina Heimgartner, Head Global Media and CEO of the Blick Group, in collaboration with a working group, to develop a group-wide journalistic mission statement," says Michael Ringier, publisher and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ringier AG.

Common understanding of journalism

The "Editorial Mission Statement" fleshes out the Ringier Group's shared understanding of journalism that informs, entertains and inspires trust, and is committed to the values of democracy, human dignity and freedom. It defines the values that will guide journalists in their work and editorial decisions across all Ringier markets and media brands: Excellence, Truth, Openness, Independence, Responsibility, Audience and Respect.

The "Ringier International Editorial Standards and Innovation Board" is launched at the same time as Ringier's editorial mission statement. This board looks at Ringier's publications, assesses and promotes leadership and innovation. In Switzerland, the "Publisher's Invite" format with Michael Ringier is also introduced, focusing on the dialog on journalism.
