IT entrepreneur buys into Gassmann media group
Fredy Bayard, the owner of the Biel-based Gassmann Media Group, sold half of his shares to Bern-based IT entrepreneur Stefan Niedermaier on Friday. Gassmann announced this on its own online portal, Ajour.ch. The parties agreed not to disclose the sale price.

Niedermaier will thus take a seat on the Board of Directors of the Gassman Group and, after an introductory phase, will assume the chairmanship, it said. He is looking forward to further developing the media company with the Valais entrepreneur Bayard, Stefan Niedermaier told Ajour.ch. Niedermaier became known to the general public through his post as managing director of Berner Young Boys.
The Gassmann Media Group also includes the Bieler Tagblatt, the Journal du Jura, the local radio station Canal 3 and the TV station Telebielingue. In December 2020, it was announced that the Gassmann media group would be sold to Bayard as part of a succession plan. The latter led the Valais-based media group Mengis, which among other things had Valaisan messenger publishes, temporarily. Last year, he sold a majority of his shares to a publishing group of leading employees of the newspaper. (SDA)
