Liechtensteiner Volksblatt apparently to be discontinued
It is Liechtenstein's oldest daily newspaper, and now it is on the verge of closing: It was reported that continuing to operate it profitably in the long term is no longer possible.

The Board of Directors was of the opinion that "long-term economic operation" was no longer possible. Even the involvement of external specialists, capital increases and financial subsidies had not been able to avert this situation. Like most other newspapers, the Liechtensteiner Volksblatt the outflow of advertising dollars to companies like Google and Facebook, the executive wrote.
In addition, the number of print subscribers is falling constantly. Most recently, the normal circulation was 6,100 copies. At the same time, the willingness to pay for digital news content is still too little developed, it was said. If the general assembly of Liechtensteiner Volksblatt AG decides to discontinue the "Volksblatt," the company plans to work out a social plan for the terminated employees. (sda)
