Schroten and Mammut for a responsible approach to nature
For International Mountain Day 2022, Schroten for Mammut shows that it doesn't have to be Mount Everest - the next adventure is right on your doorstep.

"That which is very close to home is often forgotten," says Dani Arnold, a world-class mountaineer from Uri. "I find it exciting to show people that there can be more adventure behind a three-thousand-meter peak than an eight-thousand-meter peak." In the film, he ventures on the first traverse from Gross Windgällen to Gross Ruchen and encounters "much, much more challenging terrain between the Schächen and Maderan valleys than in the big north faces." So demanding, in fact, that the task cannot be accomplished on the first attempt: Halfway through the tour, Arnold and his companion André von Rotz have to abort. Another lesson learned: sometimes it's smarter to turn around.
Respect and responsibility towards nature
For Austrian freeskier Nadine Wallner, world champion in 2013 and 2014, there doesn't have to be snow to be challenged athletically. The Arlberg native takes it as it comes: While she waits for the white slopes, she uses the local terrain for an adventurous trail running session that ends high up in the rocks.
The rocks are also Madeleine Cope's home: Instead of the Alps, she climbs together with sports photographer Lena Drapella on the cliffs of North Wales, where she cleans up classic climbing routes for British amateur athletes. "I try to travel as little as possible, and find all the things I value about climbing as close to home as possible - like here by the sea."
Together, the athletes stand up for respect and responsibility towards nature and formulate an appeal to move responsibly in nature for International Mountain Day 2022. The appeal of the international campaign: "Protect the playgrounds you love. Join us in giving back for International Mountain Day on December 11."
The five films are available via Mammut Journal and the newsletter, as well as on the social media channels and the Campaign Hub to see.
