"We show approaches to solutions and new fields of action"
On November 23, the Swiss Media Association will be hosting its annual trend conference on specialist and specialty media at the Folium in Zurich. In the run-up to the event, Werbewoche.ch talked to Marianne Läderach, Head of the VSM Media Institute, about the main topics of the conference.
Werbewoche.ch: Marianne Läderach, the VSM is in close contact with its members. What topics are burning under the nails of the trade and special media?
Marianne Läderach: The challenges are the same as for the entire industry. In other words, digitization in all its facets, the tight advertising market, and the question of how to offer added value in the reader market that will be reflected in brand loyalty and willingness to pay. On top of this, there are now the massively increased paper and energy prices.
Which experts did the VSM invite to shed light on these topics?
Basically, it is important to us that approaches to solutions and new fields of action are identified. Because these definitely exist. To kick things off, digitalization expert Sunnie J. Groeneveld, who is also a member of the board of directors at the Galledia Group, will give an input presentation. Practical insights and exchange with the audience will then be the focus of the afternoon. Representatives of TierWelt, Inside IT and Publishers will have their say. The topic of newsletters and their potential for trade media will be examined in greater depth.
Not only members can benefit from the variety of topics, who are you addressing with the conference?
The symposium is open to all interested parties from the trade and specialty media sector, with VSM members and Q-certified publishers benefiting from preferential rates.
There will be a panel discussion in collaboration with the Swiss Federation of Professional Journalists SFJ. What are the main topics that will be discussed on the panel?
Edith Hollenstein, Business Editor at Tamedia, will moderate the talk and ask questions such as: Where does trade journalism stand? How do publishers and editors work together; keyword one ad equals one report? But the panel will also discuss answers to the challenges. Finally, it is worth mentioning that in addition to the inputs from the Program exchange and networking within the industry are an important part of the conference. The coffee breaks and the Apéro Riche offer many opportunities for this.
