Hundreds of thousands of good deeds on Coop's "Day of Good Deeds

Once again, Coop celebrates a successful "Good Deed Day": Last Saturday, the Swiss population performed hundreds of thousands of good deeds and committed themselves to society and the environment.

Hunderttausende gute Taten am «Tag der guten Tat» von CoopCoop donated the entire proceeds of 150,000 Swiss francs from the Naturaplan organic Weggen sold on the "Good Deed Day" to the Swiss Red Cross (SRC) for the benefit of those affected by the Ukraine crisis. The third "Good Deed Day" thus triggered a positive movement throughout Switzerland.

The third "Good Deed Day" was a complete success and hundreds of thousands of small and large deeds were implemented by the Swiss population. Numerous volunteers took part in the hands-on activities of the six main partners, members of associations and organizations in all parts of the country performed good deeds - and Coop employees also surprised customers. Volunteering for society and the environment took center stage throughout Switzerland last Saturday.

Successful participatory actions of the main partners

The main partners of the "Good Deed Day" carried out around 50 hands-on activities throughout Switzerland. WWF Switzerland worked with volunteers to carry out environmental outreach activities, including collecting litter on the banks of the Birs River in Basel and the Reuss River in Rotkreuz. The SRC offered the opportunity to donate blood and register for a blood stem cell donation at various locations such as Aarau, Lucerne and Lausanne. The social organizations Schweizer Tafel and Tischlein deck dich were able to take delivery of over 30 tons of long-life food for people affected by poverty in Switzerland in front of 26 Coop supermarkets. Numerous volunteers, together with Pro Infirmis and people affected, collected information on the accessibility of buildings and public places. Philipp Wyss, Chairman of the Executive Board of Coop, also helped with the data collection in Engadin. Various departments of the Swiss Scout Movement also got involved for the benefit of society and the environment. The Scouts helped on an alp, donated blood or collected waste.

Good deeds at Coop sales outlets and 150,000 Swiss francs for Ukraine emergency aid

In all Coop supermarkets, Coop City department stores and sales outlets of the Coop specialist formats, employees surprised customers with gifts such as a snack or roses. Coop production plants also performed good deeds. The sale of Naturaplan organic Weggen in Coop supermarkets and Coop restaurants raised a total of 150,000 Swiss francs. Coop is donating these sales proceeds in full to the SRC for the benefit of emergency aid in Ukraine. "With the successful Weggen campaign, Coop can actively support those affected by the Ukraine crisis," says Philipp Wyss, Chairman of the Coop Management Board.
