NZZ launches digital magazine

The new digital «NZZ Magazin» publishes carefully researched and high-quality stories every day, enriched with exclusively digital elements such as columns, recipes, and illustrations. The new digital magazine is now available online.

NZZ lanciert digitales MagazinNZZ Magazin is to be the new digital home of magazine content from the NZZ media house. It combines the journalistic power behind titles such as NZZ am Sonntag, NZZ Folio, NZZ History and other NZZ magazines. In addition, on magazine.nzz.ch publishes reports, essays, features and interviews throughout the week. A monthly subscription to "NZZ Magazin" costs 19 francs.

"While daily newspapers have long been appearing in the digital space as well, this is only gradually being observed in the case of magazines and weekly titles. With NZZ Magazin, we want to actively shape this development and create an attractive magazine section online," explains Jonas Projer, Editor-in-Chief of "NZZ am Sonntag". "We are convinced that excellent background information, reports and strong stories from the NZZ will be just as moving in digital as in print, and that they can both inspire our loyal readership and win over new subscribers."

Aline Wanner, editorial director of "NZZ Folio," adds: "We are focusing on the target group that is interesting and also economically important for the NZZ: an audience that tends to be young."

The core content of the digital magazine is supplemented by the city blog "Metropolis". Sometimes astute and humorous, sometimes satirical and always original, authors Irène Troxler and Urs Bühler write glosses, commentaries and columns about political issues on the Limmat, celebrities, culture and curiosities that reflect the uniqueness of Zurich. In the culinary column "Kägi kocht" (Kägi Cooks), amateur cooks also receive surprising and easy-to-implement recipe ideas from food scout Richard Kägi. The "Besser leben" column offers inspiring reading material on culture, cuisine and lifestyle, including tips on literature, film and going out.

"NZZ Magazine offers focus with pleasure: no news and updates, but a daily high-quality reading experience on selected topics that are definitely urgent, but point beyond the horizon of the day," says Nicole Althaus, a member of the editorial board of the NZZ on Sunday and Editor-in-Chief Magazines. "Our stories should stimulate, touch, inspire and enrich our users' day with an insight, a smile or a good idea."
