Pointe "Booster" at the Bern Museum of Communication

Swiss editorial cartoonists had their hands full again in 2021. The best works are on display in the new exhibition «Gezeichnet» at the Museum of Communication in Bern.

Museum für KommunikationFederal Councillor Ueli Maurer as Ueli the Bell, compulsory masks in the bathtub and a fighter jet suitable for home office use: press drawings get to the heart of current stories in a humorous way and sometimes cause a stir.

It is not uncommon for a single drawing to succeed in conveying the core of a story better than a detailed text can. The humor provides easy access and the exaggeration ensures rapid understanding. But that doesn't make press cartoons light fare.

At this year's "Gezeichnet" exhibition at the Museum of Communication around 50 press illustrators are taking part with 200 works. Among the participants are well-known names such as Patrick Chappatte, Orlando Eisenmann, Felix Schaad, Max Spring and Marco Ratschiller. The exhibition will run until February 13, 2022. (SDA)
