Markus Diem Meier becomes Co-Editor-in-Chief of Handelszeitung

Business journalist Markus Diem Meier is joining the Handelszeitung editorial team. As Co-Editor-in-Chief, he will support Editor-in-Chief Stefan Barmettler in the further expansion of the business title from January 2022. He is also set to take over as sole editor-in-chief in 2022.

In January, 57-year-old Markus Diem Meier joins the company as Co-Editor-in-Chief. Handelszeitung and next year will take over completely from Stefan Barmettler, who is passing on his management role at his own request and switching to the role of author. "Stefan Barmettler leads his team with a high level of expertise and has the Handelszeitung especially in the digital field," says Alexander Theobald, CEO of Ringier Axel Springer Switzerland. "I continue to hold him in high esteem as Editor-in-Chief and am delighted that he will remain with us beyond that."

Markus Diem Meier is currently Chief Economist at Tamedia. Since 2009, he has held leading positions in the economics department of the Tages-Anzeiger and from 2012 to 2013 was deputy editor-in-chief of Finance and economywhere he was responsible for setting up the online area.

Diem Meier used to work as an editor for the Handelszeitung and Balance He is also a long-standing lecturer in economics, currently teaches at the Swiss Institute of Business Administration and has published several books on economic topics.
