Thomas Spiegel becomes CEO at C Wire

The Zurich-based digital advertising startup C Wire is expanding its leadership team. Thomas Spiegel, 38, is joining the company—founded in 2020—as CEO. Spiegel most recently served on Ringier’s executive board; prior to that, as CEO of Dentsu Switzerland, he led the country’s largest agency group.

Spiegel will become C Wire's new CEO in August. He will also take over 25 percent of the company's shares. At the same time, Rui de Freitas, co-founder and previous CEO, will move to the COO position.

According to Thomas Spiegel, the product and the team were the decisive factors in his decision to join the company. "After many years in complex organizational structures, I wanted a situation that was characterized by team spirit, a willingness to perform and common goals. I found this constellation at C Wire. The team is outstanding and has developed an extremely strong product portfolio over the past 18 months. Now it's about taking the next step and creating fast, sustainable growth together with new investors."

The entire existing team is excited about the leadership addition, according to Rui de Freitas, founder of C Wire. "In the last 18 months, we have developed our own advertising technology and good partnerships with clients and media. With the current growth of the company and the upcoming scaling, I want to fully focus on the product. At the same time, we need someone with a deep understanding of the industry and an international network who is able to shape and execute our vision."

From previous collaborations, de Freitas already knew that Spiegel fit this profile perfectly. "He is the perfect addition to our team and I look forward to working with him to provide powerful advertising solutions for our clients, media partners and investors," Rui de Freitas says.
