Ringier Axel Springer Switzerland: Sascha Hilpert new Chief Financial Officer

Marcel Hürlimann, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operations Officer at Ringier Axel Springer Switzerland, will retire at the beginning of 2023 after 20 years with the group. Sascha Hilpert, currently Head of Business Development at Ringier, will succeed him as Chief Financial Officer effective January 1, 2022, and will join the Executive Board.

After a total of 20 years within the Group, Marcel Hürlimann, Chief Financial and Operations Officer at Ringier Axel Springer Switzerland, will relinquish his functions at the beginning of 2023 and retire at the age of 63. Hürlimann worked from 2002 for the then Jean Frey publishing house, which was restructured under him as Chief Financial Officer and sold to the German Axel Springer Group in 2006. There he was responsible for the merger with the publishing group Handelszeitung as well as the associated formation of Axel Springer Switzerland. In 2016, Hürlimann led the negotiations for the founding of today's joint venture Ringier Axel Springer Schweiz, in which he has been successful as CFO and COO for the past five years.

37-year-old Sascha Hilpert, currently Head of Business Development at Ringier, will take over from Marcel Hürlimann as Chief Financial Officer and join the Executive Board of Ringier Axel Springer Switzerland at the beginning of 2022. Hilpert has worked for Ringier and Ringier Axel Springer Switzerland since 2016; prior to that, he spent seven years at the trading company Valora, where he was most recently responsible for business development and thus the sale of Valora Trade to a private investor group. Hilpert will be introduced to the new function with immediate effect and will officially assume his duties on January 1, 2022.
