Last but not least: Nonsense
There was simply no other way: Literary critic Marcel Reich-Ranicki’s forceful rejection of the German Television Award has inspired not only television critics but also the advertising industry. The “Pope of Literature” has become a media sensation.
Literary critic Marcel Reich-Ranicki's eloquent rejection of the German Television Award has not only inspired television opponents but also the advertising industry. An advertisement from Deutsche Telekom appeared in several newspapers at the weekend with a picture of Reich-Ranicki at the lectern and the text: "With us, everyone can find a television program they like."
While this advertisement was agreed with the literary critic, Reich-Ranicki said he knew nothing about another advertisement with his likeness. On Monday, the Hamburger Morgenpost printed an advertisement by the low-cost airline Ryanair with a similar image. In it, the company refers to its low fares: "I accept this price".
Reich-Ranicki responded to this publicity on Monday with the words: "It's all big nonsense" and: "I don't care about it." However, he then added: "I'll sort it out." We will have to wait a little longer, but he will certainly drop his legendary "nonsense".
