ZO Editor-in-Chief Christian Brändli steps down
Change at the Zürcher Oberländer: Christian Brändli, the paper’s current editor-in-chief, is stepping down. The reason for his departure is «differing views on the future digital direction of the paper and how it should be organized.» It is not yet clear who will take over the position.

The board of directors of Zürcher Oberland Medien announced on Tuesday that the editorial management will now be handed over to new, younger hands. Brändli's lifeblood had belonged to political and quality journalism. He had "known how to defend this against all changes.
But now, he said, it was time for a generational change, as journalism was facing massive changes. Technical innovations, new methods of data analysis and social media would change working conditions and the understanding of roles in journalism at breakneck speed.
Brändli has worked for Zürcher Oberland Medien for 32 years, since 2015 as editor-in-chief. It is still unclear who will take over his post. The succession plan is now being initiated. Until this is clarified, the two deputy editors-in-chief Malte Aeberli and Florian Bolli will take over editorial responsibility. Brändli will continue as a writer for the Oberland write.
Tamedia has held a 38 percent stake in Zürcher Oberland Medien for 10 years. The remaining shares are held by around 600 shareholders, with no shareholder owning more than two percent of the total number of shares. (SDA)
