"The Future World": HWZ hosts TEDx event
After months of intensive preparation, the big day is finally here this coming Saturday: The Zurich University of Applied Sciences (HWZ) is hosting its first TEDx event. The topic? Nothing less than «The Future World.».
Anyone who can block out November 21, 2020 in their agenda should do so: That's when the first TEDx conference of the HWZ (more precisely: of the EMBA Digital Leadership class there) will take place. The TED format comes from New York City and has taken the world by storm in recent years; with a principle that is as simple as it is ingenious: experts take to the stage and speak about their area of expertise in an entertaining, clear and creative manner.
The HWZ TEDx Talk will be about nothing less than "The Future World" - and the big questions are on the agenda: Does work still have a future in the age of digital networking, robotics and artificial intelligence? How will climate change heighten companies' awareness of sustainability?
What is TEDx?
TED is a non-profit organization dedicated to spreading innovative ideas. At TED conferences, leading thinkers and doers such as Elon Musk, Bill Gates or Jane Goodall are invited as speakers to present their "idea worth spreading" in 18 minutes or less. TEDx is an initiative of TED and enables individuals and groups to hold local, self-organized, independent events in the TED format worldwide. Leading the TEDxHWZ module in the EMBA program is none other than Urs Bucher, co-founder and current presenter of TEDxZurich. His module goal is for executives to not only organize a TEDxHWZ conference as an EMBA class, but also for everyone to learn how to give an inspiring talk thanks to professional speaker coaching.
Watch via livestream
If the HWZ TED Talk were held in an auditorium in front of physically present visitors, the event would probably already be sold out. However, due to the pandemic, the event has been moved to virtual space, there are still enough tickets for interested parties. By the way, every purchase supports the charity organization "Vision Himalaya"; so you get points for the karma account on top.
