Berne: Market shakeout continues

Industrialis is merging into the new Bernexpo manufacturing exhibition. That's good for the industry.

Two becomes one

Two become one: Now Industrialis, which was held for the first time at Bernexpo in 2018, and the planned new manufacturing trade fair, whose name will be announced in the coming weeks, are making common cause. Industrialis is merging into the planned trade fair, with the two organizers pulling in the same direction.

Is Swissmem also coming on board?

Due to the decision of Tecnoswiss, Swissmechanic and Bernexpo to create a new leading trade fair for the manufacturing industry in Bern, Expomech has decided to withdraw the Industrialis industrial trade fair launched in 2018 from the market with immediate effect. This decision is intended to prevent market fragmentation and strengthen the new vessel. Now the new trade fair association also has a date window: the new trade fair will be held for the first time at the beginning of March 2021. Partners in Bern are already the industry associations Swissmechanic and Tecnoswiss.

"Creation of a national platform"

"The creation of a national platform was very important to us from the very beginning and was the primary goal. This will further strengthen Bern as an industrial trade fair location and expand the expertise of Bernexpo's Industry & Technology division," says Pascal Blanc, Head of Industry & Technology Trade Fairs at Bernexpo. Bernexpo Groupe is thus the dominant trade fair organizer in Switzerland in the technology sector.

And what is the MCH Group doing? The MCH Group is fighting for the rival exhibition Prodex/Swisstech in Basel, which has been supported by Swissmem to date. It's going to be a hot summer for the technology exhibitions in Berne and Basel.

The new trade fair association in Bern will be held for the first time from March 2 to 5, 2021, and every two years thereafter.
