Emojis that hurt

In Australia, print subjects are campaigning for an educational program against cyberbullying.

The Alannah & Madeline Foundation, founded in Australia in 1997, aims to protect children from violence. Today, this also includes cyberbullying. With "eSmart," the NGO has developed a program that teaches schoolchildren how to navigate the Internet safely and use today's technologies in a way that does not put themselves or others in danger.

The Marmalade agency from Melbourne has "built" two children with emojis, demonstrating that - figuratively speaking - even the harmless symbols can hurt. Bullying on the Internet happens quickly and often has fatal consequences. Those who are trained and sensitized can help prevent them.
