Filmgerberei launches film for construction directorate of the canton of Zurich
Working for the Department of Public Works of the Canton of Zurich means holding a stuffy bureaucratic position, doesn’t it? The cantonal administration wants to dispel this stereotype and has therefore commissioned Filmgerberei to produce an HR film that illustrates the diverse range of responsibilities of all employees at the Department of Public Works.
The film shows the breadth of the construction directorate's field of activity and thus makes it clear to the viewer that actually almost everyone comes into contact with the cantonal administration. Balz Chen, copywriter at Filmgerberei, explains: "At the Construction Directorate, you are part of a huge organization - and yet you see how what you do manifests itself in daily life throughout the canton. We were very impressed by this meaningfulness and the variety of tasks, which is why we wanted to convey both in the film."
Thus, the variety of tasks was packed into a flowing story in everyday life, summarizing four overarching fields of activity: planning, building, managing and maintaining. To achieve this, various stylistic means were combined; real film meets animation and animated typography, statements in image and sound are underlined in a targeted manner. The playful rhythm as well as the varied transitions are meant to make the viewer feel the abundance of professions and fields of application - and that the construction department is anything but dusty.
