Six tips for successful corporate videos

VIDEO Customers, partners and employees - they are all increasingly using video content when they want to find out more about a company. However, this poses major challenges for many companies. Kaltura gives six tips on how this can be mastered. The following practical tips from Kaltura explain what companies should look out for:1. focusIf the camera has autofocus, it should be switched off. Even a slight movement can trigger the autofocus search, which clouds the sharpness of the image. It is better to zoom in on a specific point (e.g. the eyes of the protagonist) and focus the image manually. You can then zoom out again to the desired setting. In this way, the image remains stable and sharp throughout the entire shot.2. clear sound recordingsBeautiful pictures are worth little if the sound is no good. That's why it's worth investing in a clip-on microphone. The microphone is plugged in about 30 centimeters from the mouth. Then all you have to do is set the recording level using the computer's audio parameters. In addition, background noise should be avoided or minimized - the air conditioning or ventilation system should also be switched off temporarily.3. good lightingAn office space is not a TV studio, but it still needs to have uniform and bright lighting conditions. Flickering fluorescent lamps are an absolute no-go. Backlighting from windows can also be irritating and make the subject appear dark. Speakers should therefore be placed in front of a matt-painted wall. And: a little powder against shiny faces never hurts.4. setting the scene for the protagonistsThe following applies to all speaker videos and interviews: The bodies of the protagonists should ideally fill the picture from the middle of the upper body upwards and leave some space above the head - as is usual in television news. Attention should also be paid to a straight posture. In addition: Clothing with unruly patterns and bright colors disturb the picture. The people being filmed should wear discreet clothing in muted colors.5. make eye contact Videos should create a connection with the viewer. However, this does not work if the speaker is constantly looking at a manuscript behind the camera lens. For this reason, sufficient time must be allowed for rehearsal runs during the video shoot so that the speaker can familiarize themselves with the text and look into the camera frequently. In addition, bullet points are better than verbatim speech texts: they give the speaker more freedom, which makes them appear more natural and lively.6. stay calmEven if it feels like television, it is important that the protagonists remain calm and relaxed. This is the only way they can convey competence and seriousness. It helps if they introduce themselves to a specific person and only speak to them. This keeps them focused and allows them to develop a personalized message for each viewer.
