Swiss companies ignore mobile Internet use
WEBAUFTRITT Contrary to all market signals, 50 percent of Swiss companies still do not have mobile-optimized websites. This is shown by a recent study by ContentXXL.

A surprising number of companies do not yet have a mobile-optimized website. The ContentXXL study examines the extent to which SMEs in Germany and Switzerland are prepared for the increasing use of the Internet via mobile devices and the associated impact on web business. To this end, the websites of 175 German companies and 100 companies from Switzerland were examined. For Germany, the most innovative SMEs in 2015 were used. These are determined and awarded annually in a benchmarking study. For Switzerland, the 100 largest companies in Switzerland were selected.Astonishing resultDespite all market developments, half of all companies surveyed do not have a mobile-optimized website. The result is also astonishing, as mobile internet use has been a key issue in the creation of websites for some time and important gatekeepers such as Google are also increasing the pressure for optimization. After the mobile-friendliness of websites was made an official ranking factor in 2015, Google is already ringing in round two of the so-called Mobilegeddon. Further innovations such as rich cards or accelerated mobile pages are intended to further improve the user experience on mobile devices and are creating additional pressure to adapt. However, there still seems to be very little effort in this area, especially in the B2B sector. And this despite the fact that numerous studies show that B2B decision-makers are also increasingly researching on mobile devices. "The results also show how far the thematic focus of software providers and specialist media is often removed from the reality of SMEs," says Andreas Öttl, Marketing Manager at ContentXXL. "While specialist media and software providers rave about multi-variant tests and data analysis, many companies, especially SMEs, are currently facing completely different challenges. Websites often run on old systems or system versions, have been online unchanged for years with an outdated design and are not suitable for use on mobile devices. The study shows: For many companies, the first step would therefore be to fulfill the basics of digital communication."About ContentXXLContentXXL is the manufacturer of the CMS and web business software of the same name for Microsoft Server.
