NZZ launches new e-paper

After the NZZ relaunched NZZ.ch and the printed Neue Zürcher Zeitung last year, the e-paper now follows. The NZZ has developed the new e-paper app not only for iOS and Android, but also as the only media company in Switzerland to do so as a Windows 10 app. The app provides access to the entire NZZ world with the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, the NZZ am Sonntag, and all NZZ supplements and magazines, such as Bücher am Sonntag, NZZ Folio, and NZZ Geschichte. The new app is optimized for all common mobile operating systems and display sizes. The Neue Zürcher Zeitung and NZZ am Sonntag can now be downloaded automatically from 4 a.m. if a WLAN connection is available.

Ease of use and simple navigation on all operating systems and devices were the focus of the app's development. Rouven Leuener, Head of Digital Product Development at NZZ: "We actively involved our customers in the development process in several phases to ensure that the new e-paper app meets their needs." For example, readers can now scroll directly from one article to the next using swipe gestures, use the publication either in the original finite layout of the newspaper or in a flexible reading view adapted to the respective screen size, and manage the storage of past issues individually.

In addition to the e-paper applications, the NZZ has also revised the e-paper accessible via the browser and offers users an improved reading experience on this channel as well.
