This is what Heidland should look like (Image: Steiner Sarnen Switzerland)In order to make the St. Gallen destination around Flumserberg more attractive, Bergbahnen Flumserberg AG, Alpkorporation Mols and the Office for Economy and Labor of the Canton of St. Gallen carried out a test planning. The aim was to connect and strengthen the Tannenboden area as a tourist center with the expansion plans of the mountain railroads as well as overnight accommodations and other tourist experience offers. The result is a construction project with an investment of 100 million Swiss francs. One of these is the new construction of the Tannenboden - Maschgenkamm gondola lift. Ten-person gondolas will replace the four-person gondolas and the four-person Chrüz chairlift. The existing operations building will be renovated and converted into a lounge and meeting place. The opening is planned for summer 2018.Be Heidi for a dayOn the other hand, a world of experience is also part of the test planning. According to the project sketches of Steiner Sarnen AG, a Heidi village is planned. According to the motto "Be Heidi for a day", the guests on the Molseralp are to discover the story of Heidi in an authentic way.The existing businesses such as gastronomy, cattle farming, alpine dairy and overnight accommodations will be integrated and modernized in the experience world. However, as those responsible indicated, the new world of experience is not intended to compete with the existing Heidi village in Maienfeld, but to complement it.New hotelsTwo new hotels complete the multi-million project. These will be built near the valley station of the Maschgenkamm cable car and will include 100 rooms and 80 rooms, the latter of which will be connected to the new underground parking garage. This will create an additional 200 parking spaces to the existing 200.The new tourist offer in Flumserberg is expected to attract an additional 200,000 visitors per year. The next steps will be to evaluate various interested parties in a structured investor competition.
